Thermoelectricity in Cnfined Liquid Electrolytes

چکیده
The electric field in an extended phase of a liquid electrolyte exposed to a temperature gradient is attributed to different thermophoretic mobilities of the ion species. As shown herein, such Soret-type ion thermodiffusion is not required to induce thermoelectricity even in the simplest electrolyte if it is confined between charged walls. The space charge of the electric double layer leads to selective ion diffusion driven by a temperature-dependent electrophoretic ion mobility, which -for narrow channelsmay cause thermo-voltages larger in magnitude than for the classical Soret equilibrium.

In this work, an equation of state has been utilized for thermodynamic modeling of aqueous electrolyte solutions. The proposed equation of state is a combination of simplified statistical associating fluid theory (SAFT) equation of state (similar to simplified PC-SAFT) to describe the effect of short-range interactions and mean spherical approximation (MSA) term to describe the effect of long-r...
متن کاملIonic liquids for synthesis of nanoparticles (A review)
An ionic liquid (IL) is a salt in the liquid state. In some contexts, the term has been restricted to salts whose melting point is below some arbitrary temperature, such as 100 °C. While ordinary liquids such as water and gasoline are predominantly made of electrically neutral molecules, ionic liquids are largely made of ions and short-lived ion pairs. These substances are variously called liqu...

A new modified Adomian Decomposition Method (ADM) was utilized to obtain an analytical solution for the buckling of the nanocantilever actuators immersed in liquid electrolytes. The nanoactuators in electrolytes are subject to different nonlinear forces including ionic concentration, van der Waals, external voltage and electrochemical forces. The Duan–Rach modified Adomian decomposition method ...
